Society of St. Vincent de Paul
What We Do
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a volunteer organization that offers direct aid to those in need across nine counties in North Texas. Through personal, compassionate interaction, the Society’s members provide short-term financial, material and emotional support to our neighbors in crisis.
In addition, broader Society programs and services help families address the underlying root causes of their basic unmet needs. Things like access to free prescription medication for those without insurance, or support in escaping predatory debt empower neighbors to build a life free from poverty.

Who We Are
Society members, affectionately called “Vincentians,” are joined by their passion of serving neighbors in need. Vincentians commit to membership in one of our 40+ local conferences for fellowship, training and spiritual guidance in their habit of service.
Meeting people at difficult times in their lives requires sensitivity, compassion and a deep respect for their struggles. The center of our service model is a person-to-person home visit, during which our trained staff and volunteers get to know our neighbors and hear their stories.
Our Programs
St. Vincent de Paul Pharmacy
The first freestanding charitable pharmacy in Texas, SVdP Pharmacy provides free medication to patients in need who meet the following criteria:

Have no health insurance coverage,
-
Have proof of residence in the state of Texas,
-
Have a household income at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level, and
-
Have a valid prescription.

Mini Loan Program
The Mini Loan Program exists to help those who are trapped in overwhelming debt due to predatory lenders, or unexpected major expenses like hospital bills or car repairs.
By offering low-interest conversion and emergency loans, along with financial coaching and budget support, qualified participants can escape or avoid debt and find financial freedom.

StudyTime: After School
StudyTime serves K-8 students and families by supporting their educational journeys.

Afterschool tutoring and mentorship for K-8 students,

Wraparound services for families, including assistance with high school and college application processes,

Scholarships to local private high schools, and

Seasonal assistance, including school supplies and Christmas gifts

One Stop Shop of Community and Social Resources
The SVC is the entry point for neighbors in southern Dallas County to learn more about all SVdP programs and serves as a collaboration hub with other non-profit organizations to drive systemic change and enable neighbors to live a full and rewarding life.
