Childcare, Housing and Utility Assistance Available

LANCASTER, Texas — The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of North Texas (SVdP) recently entered into an agreement with the City of Lancaster, TX to provide emergency financial assistance to residents impacted by COVID-19. SVdP will provide services in connection with the City of Lancaster Emergency Assistance Programs for utilities, childcare and housing (mortgage/rental) that are funded by federal COVID-19 emergency assistance funds.

“As we continue to see the detrimental financial impacts that COVID-19 has on our most vulnerable neighbors in need, we are grateful to collaborate with the City of Lancaster. This partnership enables us to increase our capacity to serve where most needed,” said Michael Pazzaglini, SVdP CEO.

The program is designed to rapidly provide short-term assistance to individuals and households that are experiencing or at-risk of negative COVID-19 related financial consequences, including inability to pay for utilities, childcare costs, or mortgage or lease payments.

There are three (3) programs available to applicants: Utility Assistance, Housing Emergency Assistance, and Childcare Emergency Assistance. Applicants may apply for one, two, or all three programs. The applicable maximums will be as follows: Utility Assistance: $150; Childcare: $1000; Housing: $1500.

The St. Vincent Center in Lancaster is a resource for food and hygiene supplies, serves as a location for residents to apply for state programs such as WIC and actively works with community stakeholders to train and place residents in long-term employment.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has been serving North Texas for 65 years. SVdP provides emergency assistance to people in need in the forms of rent, utilities, food, clothing, furnishings, and medications. In addition, SVdP provides systemic change programs that address after- school education, low-interest loans to combat predatory lending, employment opportunities, and free medications to uninsured, low-income families.
