BEQUEST FROM YOUR WILL OR LIVING TRUST
You can easily make a charitable gift of a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate/trust, a certain asset or make the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Endowment Fund a “residual beneficiary”. In addition to very generous charitable gift, your trust or estate receives an estate tax deduction as well.
BENEFICIARY DESIGNATION FROM A RETIREMENT PLAN
By designating the Society of St. Vincent de Paul as a beneficiary of your IRA or retirement plan, you support the important work and avoid both estate and income tax. All that is required is to name “The Catholic Foundation for the benefit of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Diocesan Council of Dallas” as owner for a portion of all of your IRA qualified retirement plan.
CHARITABLE GIFT OF LIFE INSURANCE POLICY
You can assign whole life insurance policies and name “The Catholic Foundation for the benefit of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Diocesan Council of Dallas” as beneficiary. In return for your generosity, in most cases you receive a tax deduction for the premiums you have paid.
An Endowment is a fund that is invested to produce maximum total returns that are used to fund program expenses. An endowment gift may be given for general purposes and used at the discretion of the Board, or it may be expressly designated, or restricted, for a specific program. Endowment funds are intended to last forever, with investment income and gains providing 4% to 7% for annual spending while at the same time growing the funds to assist future generations. For example, a $10,000 endowment gift will provide $400-$700 each year for SVdP programs. Endowment funds are critical to the long-term health and stability of non-profit organizations like the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. They enable the Society to level out its funding sources over good times and bad. The working poor and homeless individuals and families whom we serve are especially in need of food, rental assistance and medical attention when the economy is poor and donations decline. Endowment funds ensure that these important services can be provided over the long term.
